New Delhi:

Congress leader Udit Raj on Monday sparked controversy by claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has no base in Kerala because the people of the state are educated and not 'Andh Bhakt' (blind followers).

"BJP has never won even a single seat in Kerala, do you know why? Because the people in Kerala are educated and not blind followers (Kerala mein BJP aaj tak ek bhi seat nahi jeet paayi, jaante hain kyun? Kyuki wahan ke log shikshit hain, andhbhakt nahi)," Udit Raj tweeted.

Angry with his remarks, people have started trolling the Congress leader by asking were they illiterate when they voted for him in 2014.

"You mean to say that we are illiterate becoz we voted for you in 2014," said a person on micrblogging site.

He made this remark a day after some exit polls predicted that the Congress-led UDF is doing better than the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and BJP.

The exit poll results have predicted that while the UDF is expected to win 15-16 of 20 Lok Sabha seats, the CPI-M led LDF is expected to get only 3-5 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala. According to the Exit Poll conducted by the News Nation, BJP may win 1-3 seats (14 per cent vote share), the Congress/UDF is likely to get 11-13 seat with 38 per cent of vote share and the CPM may get 5 to 7 seats with 34 per cent.
