Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a no-holds-barred attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused him of not paying heed to the advice of experts in order to run the government. Addressing the last rally of 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan, Rahul Gandhi said that while the BJP doesn’t accept its mistakes, the Congress learns from them.
“Virbhadra Singh (former Himachal Pradesh chief minister) became chief minister for six times but he says we should learn from our mistakes. Congress party learns from its mistakes while the BJP and Modi don’t accept their mistakes. He destroyed businesses by his demonetisation move,†Gandhi said.
Referring to the prime minister’s recent “non-political interview†with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, the Congress president took a dig at the prime minister and said that while Modi is being asked how he eats mangoes and cut kurtas, journalists ask him about the NYAY scheme and farmers issue.
“In press conferences, journalists ask me about NYAY scheme, how are we going to implement it, where did the money for the scheme come from, how will you ensure better MSP for farmers. But Modi ji they ask you how do you eat mangoes and wear kurtas,†the Gandhi scion said.

The Congress leader also mentioned the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks to accuse the prime minister of politicising the national security issue. He said, “Terrorists were storming the city of Mumbai and at the same time, Modi was doing politics by holding a press conference. But we stood by the government during the Pulwama attack. This is the difference.â€
Taking a jab at Modi’s “pakoda remark†during an interview, he said that while Modi government import apples from China, youth of Himachal Pradesh are asked to make pakodas (a traditional Indian snake prepared with gram flour).
The campaigning for the seventh and final phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 will come to an end on Friday. The last phase polling is scheduled to be held on May 19 and the results will be declared on May 23.
