New Delhi:

Congress leader former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday said that it was not proper to remove security provided to the RSS office in Bhopal. Taking to micro blogging website Twitter, Digvijaya wrote, “It is not fair to remove the security from the Bhopal National Volunteer Association Office, I request the Chief Minister, Kamal Nath, to immediately give an order to provide adequate security again.”

Earlier, security personnel were withdrawn from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Bhopal for deployment for election duty. However, ASP (Zone-I) Bhopal said that Special Armed Forces (SAF) Guard has been removed and the security not been removed. “SAF is needed for elections, we removed the guard from 6 places, including, RSS office. There wasn’t any order. It was just a routine thing,” news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath announced that Digvijaya Singh will contest the 2019 general election from the Bhopal constituency. Bhopal is a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress has not won the seat since 1984.

Earlier, Digvijaya Singh said he has no objection to veteran Congressman and ex-President Pranab Mukherjee sharing the dais with RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat. “If the RSS had invited me, I would have also gone. What’s wrong in sharing the dais with RSS sarsanghchalak? I would have gone and shown them the mirror, put forth our ideology,” Singh, a fierce critic of the Sangh, had told Economic Times. “But I disagree with what he said about [RSS founder KB] Hedgewar being a great son of India. He wasn’t great,” he had said. This was when former President Pranab Mukherjee shared RSS stage.
