The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won all the 26 seats in Gujarat - Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state. While the official announcement was still due, BJP candidates in all the 26 seats in Gujarat were leading with a massive margin. With most of the votes already counted, the results were unlikely to swing in Congress' favour. BJP president Amit Shah, who had contested from Gandhinagar constituency, was leading with a huge margin of 5,55,843 votes. Shah broke the record of Lal Krishna Advani, who had won the seat in 2014 Lok Sabha elections by 4,83,120 votes.
