Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party has secured a massive mandate in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections, improving on its 2014 performance when it had won 282 seats on its own in the 543-member Lok Sabha. Currently, according to the trends at 2 PM, the BJP is currently ahead in close to 350 seats while the opposition has been decimated. The results are a resounding endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity, his government's achievements in the last five years and his campaign, which centered around national security and nationalism. He also relentlessly attacked the Congress Party for what he called its dynastic legacy, and blamed it for the country's woes.

Following the massive mandate secured by BJP and Modi, world leaders have offered their congratulations to Modi as he is all set for a second five-year term as the Prime Minister of India. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe offered his congratulations over a telephonic conversation with Modi while Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Modi over his leadership. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is been counted on a strong ally, also congratulated Modi for his achievement. Russian president Vladimir Putin has also congratulated Modi via telegram over his decisive mandate. Bhutan's king Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani, Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli congratulated Modi.

The first world leader to congratulate Modi was Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as he expressed hope of close co-operation between the two countries. Modi is set to assume the prime minister’s office again when the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be announced later today. As per early trends, the Narendra Modi-lead NDA in leading in 148 seats, while UPA on 74. Rahul Gandhi is trailing from Amethi. In early trends, BJP is looking to breach Mamata Banerjee's fortress and is leading in 19 seats in West Bengal.

News Nation had predicted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will win anything between 282 and 290 seats, while the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) may garner a maximum of 126 seats. Interestingly, Others will perform better than the UPA with a maximum of 138 seats. The NDA won 336 seats in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, while the UPA, which had been in power for two straight terms, was reduced to 59.

The Lok Sabha Elections 2019 were held in seven phases, starting April 11. A total of 91 constituencies went to the polls in the first phase on April 11, followed by 97 constituencies in the second phase on April 18. The third phase was held on April 23 and fourth on April 29, fifth on May 6, sixth on May 12 and seventh phase on May 19. 115 constituencies went to the polls in the third phase, 71 in the fourth phase, 51 in the fifth phase, 59 in the sixth phase and 59 in the seventh phase.
