Karnataka Exit Poll 2019 LIVE: BJP likely to defeat Congress-JDS alliance in southern state

Held in 7 phases, Lok Sabha elections 2019 for 542 of 543 constituencies came to an end on Sunday (May 19) evening. Votes will be counted on May 23. The South Indian state of Karnataka has 28 seats in the Lok Sabha. According to the News Nation, BJP is likely to retain the state with winning 17 to 19 seats. The coalition of Congress and JD(S), on the other hand, is likely to win only 9 to 11 seats. We will bring you the LIVE updates of Karnataka Exit Poll 2019. Stay tuned with News Nation for it.  

Below are the LIVE updates of exit poll in Karnataka:

8:30 pm: According to Today’s Chanakya exit poll, the BJP is likely to win 23 to 27 seats in Karnataka. The coalition of Congress-JD(S) is likely get 5 to 9 seats while Others to get 0.

6:47 pm: Others are likely to get 4 per cent of vote share in the state. Out of 39 seats, Others are likely to remain seatless in the state. 

6:46 pm: Congress+JD(S) coalition is likely to get upto 47 per cent of vote share in the state. Out of 28 seats, coalition is likely to win 9 to 11 seats. 

6:45 pm: The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get upto 47 per cent of vote share in the state. Out of 28 seats, BJP is like to win 17 to 19 seats. 

6:37 pm: CH Vijayashankar (BJP-Hassan), GS Basavaraj (BJP-Tumkur), Nandan Nilekani (Congress-Bangalore South), Janardhana Poojary (Congress-Dakshina Kannada), Ramya (Congress-Mandya), AH Vishwanath (Congress-Mysore), HD Kumaraswamy (JDS-Chikballapur), M Shivanna (JDS-Chamarajnagar), V. Dhananjaya Kumar (JDS-Udupi Chikmagalur), SS Mallikarjun (Congress-Davangere) and N. Dharam Singh (Congress-Bidar) lost the elections.

6:35 pm: Some of the prominent winners in 2014 were BS Yeddyurappa (BJP-Shimoga), Ananth Kumar (BJP-Bangalore South), HD Deve Gowda (JDS-Hassan), DV Sadananda Gowda (BJP-Bangalore North), Pralhad Joshi (BJP-Dharwad), Ramesh Jigajinagi (BJP-Bijapur), Mallikarjun Kharge (Congress-Gulbarga), Veerappa Moily (Congress-Chikballapur), Nalin Kumar Kateel (BJP-Dakshina Kannada), Anant Kumar Hegde (BJP-Uttara Kannada), B. Sriramulu (BJP-Bellary), PC Mohan (BJP-Bangalore Central), Prathap Simha (BJP-Mysore), CS Puttaraju (JDS-Mandya), GM Siddeswara (BJP-Davangere), DK Suresh (Congress-Bangalore Rural), KH Muniyappa (Congress-Kolar) and Shobha Karandlaje (BJP-Udupi Chikmagalur).

6:32 pm: The JDS, known as the third force in the state, got 34,06,465 votes with a vote share of 11.07 per cent.

6:30 pm: The Congress garnered 1,26,66,530 votes with a vote share of 41.15 per cent.

6:28 pm: The BJP received 1,33,50,285 votes with a vote share of 43.37 per cent.

6:27 pm: The Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) was successful in the remaining 2 seats (Mandya and Hassan).

6:25 pm: The BJP won 17 of these seats whereas the Congress was restricted to just 9 seats in the state.

6:20 pm: The 2014 election in Karnataka was held in a single phase on April 17.

6:18 pm: In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) performed extremely well after the return of BS Yeddyurappa in the party fold.

6:17 pm: Karnataka has 84 per cent Hindu population and 13 per cent Muslims.

6:16 pm: Lingayats make up about 17 per cent of Karnataka's population while Vokkaligas are about 12 per cent.

6:15 pm: Over 24 billion voters have already decided the fortunes of 282 candidates including Congress’ Mallikarjun Kharge and working president of the grand old party’s state unit Eshwar Khandre, Union ministers Ananth Kumar Hegde and Ramesh Jigajinagi and the son of Karnataka BJP president and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa BY Raghavendra, among others.

6:13 pm: In Karnataka, BJP is facing the ally of Congress and Janata Dal(Secular).

6:12 pm: The people of the state voted in two phases on April 18 (second phase) and on April 23 (third phase).

6:10 pm: Talking about the Karnataka, the state sends 28 members to the Lok Sabha.
