List of 38 and 37 Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha seats BSP and SP to contest respectively

Lucknow:

Days after announcing a pre-poll alliance in Uttar Pradesh for Lok Sabha Elections 2019, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Thursday announced the allocation of seats to each partner. According to a joint statement, issued by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP president Mayawati, the SP will contest on 37 seats and the BSP will fight on 38 seats out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Amethi and Rae Bareli - the pocket boroughs of the Gandhi family - have been left for the Congress.

The SP-BSP alliance had initially allocated two seats to the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) but now SP has given one more seat from its quota to Ajit Singh's party. While announcing the alliance earlier, the two parties had said they will contest from 38 constituencies each out of the 80 in the state.

Seats on which SP will contest:  

Moradabad, Kairana, Rampur, Sambhal, Ghaziabad, Hathras, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Badaun, Etah, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Kheri, Unnao, Hardoi, Etawah, Lucknow, Banda, Jhansi, Kannauj, Kanpur, Kaushambi, Phulpur, Allahabad, Barabanki, Baharaich, Gonda, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Balia, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Robertsganj and Faizabad.

Seats on which BSP will field its candidates:

Saharanpur, Bijnor, Nagina, Amroha, Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Aonla, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Dhaurahra, Misrikh, Mohanlalganj, Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Farukkhabad, Akbarpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Kaiserganj, Domariyaganj, Shrawasti, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, Lalganj, Ghosi, Jaunpur, Salempur, Bhadohi, Ghazipur and Machhlishahr.

Let us tell you that the BSP had failed to open its account in 2014 General Elections. The party had 20 MPs in 2009 Lok Sabha. 

The Ajit Singh-led RLD will contest from Mathura, Baghpat and Muzaffarnagar. RLD holds the Kairana seat which it won in a by-poll.
