Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday a mega rally in Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s home turf - Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. Eralier in the day, the prime minister laid the foundation stone of several development projects in the state. He also inaugurated circuit bench of Calcutta High Court at Jalpaiguri. The rallyw, which took place in Churabhandar of Jalpaiguri's Maynaguri block, comes amid the ongoing showdown between Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) agency over Shardha Chit fund scam cases. As politics played in the streets of Kolkata, Modi is expected to fire fresh salvos at the Mamata-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, who has been making desperate attempts to give a final shape to the proposed grand alliance of the opposition parties to upset the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019 due by May.
