For the second phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections, 95 parliamentary constituencies across 11 states and the Union Territory of Puducherry went to polls on Wednesday, April 18, 2019. Thirty eight of the 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu went to polls besides 18 Assembly constituencies in the state. Besides Tamil Nadu, polling held in 14 seats in Karnataka, 10 in Maharashtra, eight in Uttar Pradesh, five each in Assam, Bihar and Odisha, three each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one seat each in Manipur and Puducherry. Hema Malini, Raj Babbar, Farooq Abdullah, Ashok Chavan, Sushilkumar Shinde, Prakash Ambedkar, DV Sadananda Gowda, Tejaswi Surya, BK Hariprasad, HD Deve Gowda, Jitendra Singh and Kanimozhi are among the 1,600-odd contestants who fought n the second phase of crucial General Elections 2019 today.

The polling station 112 of Raiganj constituency has been completely vandalised, EVM damaged. Voting has been stalled for now.

The polling percentage at 11 am for Srinagar Parliamentary constituencies bound areas, the Parliament polls are going on from
stood at 6.1% with Budgam registering the highest turnout of 9.1% followed by Ganderbal at 6.1% and Srinagar registered 3.9%.


Voter turnout till 11 AM in Tamil Nadu is 30.62%.

Tension was reported from booth number 159 in North Dinajpur’s Chopra as bike-borne youths stopped people from casting their votes. Women voters were also attacked. Locals, protesting about the incident, alleged that the police remained inactive at the time of the incident.

Beed DM Astik Kr Pandey: Five places have reported EVM and VVPAT malfunction since morning at the Beed constituency in Maharashtra. Those are Georai, Mazalgaon, Kej, Ashti, Parali. However all those machines have been replaced immediately and polling is going smoothly at all locations.

West Bengal: Polling is yet to begin at booth number 29/134 at Islampur Hindi FP School of Uttar Dinajpur, in Raiganj Parliamentary constituency, as the EVM at the booth is not functioning.
