Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Lost your voter ID? These documents/ID proofs can be used to cast vote

With the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to begin with the first phase of polling on April 11, is the necessary for voters if their names are mentioned on the electoral rolls.

But, before anything else, in order to cast their vote in the elections, it is mandatory for a citizen to have an election ID card (EPIC), along with his/her name mentioned on the voter list.

However, in case if you have lost your voter ID or it has been stolen, you can still cast your vote as long as you have one of the IDs mentioned below, and have already applied for a duplicate voter ID card.

Alternative documents that can be used in place of voter ID card to cast your vote include:

  1. Permanent Account Number
  2. Aadhaar Card
  3. Driving Licence
  4. Passbook with photograph issued by a recognised bank or post office
  5. Pension document with photograph for retired personnel
  6. Service ID card issued by central/state government
  7. MGNREGA job card
  8. Health insurance smart card issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment
  9. Authenticated photo voter slip issued by election machinery

Citizens can check if their names are mentioned in the electoral rolls published by the Election Commission of India on its official website.

The Lok Sabha elections will be conducted in seven phases from April 11 to May 19 and the counting of votes will be done on May 23. The polling will be held on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19.
