New Delhi:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have received a drubbing in three Hindi heartland states in the recently held Assembly elections but Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity has remained intact, predicts opinion poll conducted by News Nation. According to the survey, Narendra Modi remains the most preferred prime ministerial candidate with 47 per cent people voting for him and 31 per cent voting for Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the poll. 23 per cent people wanted someone else as the Prime Minister of India.

But there's some bad news for the BJP as it is likely to lose several seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The survey shows that the BJP is likely to get 16 seats in Rajasthan – 9 less than what it got in 2014 Lok Sabha polls - followed by the Congress (9) and Others (0). In terms of vote share, the opinion poll predicts that the BJP may win 40 per cent vote share in Rajasthan while the Congress may win 35 per cent vote share in General Elections 2019. WATCH VIDEO

The Congress was completely routed in the 2014 General Elections and got just 30.73 per cent of votes. It must be noted that the vote share of the BJP was 45.17 per cent in the 2013 Assembly elections and the Congress had garnered only 33.07 per cent of votes. However, Narendra Modi remains the most preferred prime ministerial candidate with 47 per cent voting for him and 31 per cent voting for Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the poll.

The important issue for the people of the state in the upcoming General Elections will be unemployment with 16 per cent voting for it. Other factors which will play a crucial rule are corruption (12 per cent), inflation (15 per cent) and demonetisation-GST (8 per cent).

The BJP lost the Assembly elections last year but 43 per cent people still feel that it is the party that can address the issues of the state. The ruling party of the state is at second position with 39 per cent people favouring it. However, 52 per cent of them are happy with the Congress government in the state and 42 per cent said that they are not happy with the government.

49 per cent people of the state are satisfied with the PM Modi-led NDA government at the Centre and 37 per cent expressed their dissatisfaction with it. During the opinion poll, News Nation found that 45 per cent people are of the opinion that development has been the Modi government's prime focus. When asked 'will 10 per cent general caste quota decision going to benefit BJP?' 51 per cent people said 'Yes' while 35 per cent said it will not benefit the government.

42 per cent people of the state feel that Rahul Gandhi's allegations against the Modi government over Rafale jet deal have substance. However, 40 per cent found it baseless. When asked whether the Modi government is giving a befitting reply to China and Pakistan, 48 per cent of people in Rajasthan said 'Yes' and 40 per cent said 'No'.
