New Delhi:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have received a drubbing in three Hindi heartland states in the recently held Assembly elections but Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity has remained intact, predicts opinion poll conducted by News Nation. According to the survey, Narendra Modi remains the most preferred prime ministerial candidate with 46 per cent people voting for him and 28 per cent voting for Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the poll. 13 per cent people wanted someone else as the Prime Minister of India.

On Friday, News Nation came out with an opinion poll on Jharkhand that predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party may get 10 seats, whereas the Congress and its alliance partners are likely to bag a total of 4 seats in the upcoming General Elections.

In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the BJP won 12 seats and left only 2 seats (Dumka and Rajmahal) for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The Congress and the JMM had forged an alliance in the state to take on the BJP but the Grand Old Party failed to open its account. The 2014 election in Jharkhand was held in three phases on April 10, 17 and 24. The BJP received 52,07,439 votes with a vote share of 40.7 per cent and the JMM garnered 12,05,031 votes with a vote share of 9.4 per cent. The Congress received 17,24,740 votes with a vote share of 13.5 per cent. The JVM, the AJSU and the RJD received 15,67,655 (12.2%), 4,81,667 (3.80%) and 2,12,571 (1.7%) votes respectively.

In a bid to gauge the voting intention in the state, News Nation travelled across all the 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state and asked people several questions to find out who will have the better chance to steal the show in 2019.

When it comes to the most favourable prime ministerial candidate in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Jharkhand chose Narendra Modi with 46 per cent votes. However, 28 per cent people in the state said they want Rahul Gandhi to run the country. Being asked about the most important issues in the state 5  per cent people voted for basic infrastructure, followed by jobs (17 per cent), inflation (30 per cent), corruption (7 per cent), terrorism  (7 per cent).

When asked about the performance of Modi government, 43 per cent said they are satisfied with the performance whereas 40 per cent said no.
