Former Bihar chief minister and RJD leader Lalu Yadav's wife Rabri Devi on Wednesday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a "jallad" and accused him of getting judges and journalists killed and kidnapped. When asked about Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi calling Modi 'Duryodhan' - the antagonist of Mahabharat - the RJD leader said that Priyanka should have used an other language, he is not Duryodhan but a jallad.

"She should not have called him Duryodhan and used another language, they all are 'Jallad'. The state of mind of such people who get judges and journalists killed and kidnapped would be dreaded," ANI news agency quoted the RJD leader as saying.

Earlier, addressing a Congress rally in Ambala, Priyanka Gandhi, in a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had said that the Mahabharata character Duryodhana too had "such arrogance".

"This country has never forgiven ego and arrogance. History is witness to this, the Mahabharata is witness to this. Duryodhana also had such arrogance. When Lord Krishna went to show him the truth, make him understand, he tried to take him captive," she said narrating the famous incident of Mahabharata in which Kauravs tried to canputre Lord Krishan when he visited their king Duryodhana for a truce between the warring family members.

Slamming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of not contesting the Lok Sabha elections on the real issues and hiding behind the valour of the Army, Priyanka said, "When BJP leaders go out to campaign, they do not talk about issues.... They raise different issues. Sometimes they say the elephant was sleeping for 70 years. Sometimes they seek votes in the name of martyrs, and at other times they insult those from my family who sacrificed their lives."

The remarks of the Congress leader didn't go down well with the BJP and drew a sharp response from none other than but the saffron party chief Amit Shah. "The people of the country will decide who is Duryodhana and who is Arjun," Shah said at public meeting later in West Bengal.
