Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who took charge as AICC general secretary in-charge of the party's affairs in Uttar Pradesh East on Wednesday, attended party’s meeting today where Congress party president Rahul Gandhi discussed the party's strategy for the Lok Sabha polls with AICC general secretaries and in-charges of various states.
Sources said the party's overall strategy for the Lok Sabha polls and booth-level organisation were discussed during the meet. At the meeting, Priyanka was seated next to Jyotiraditya Scindia, who also took charge on Wednesday as AICC general secretary in-charge UP West.
Priyanka Gandhi has been allotted an office adjacent to that of her brother's at the party headquarters. Rahul Gandhi has also called a meeting of state chiefs and Congress Legislature Party leaders on Saturday in the national capital, to review preparedness for the general election.
Rahul Gandhi will accompany Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia to Lucknow on February 11, on their first trip to the state after taking over as Congress general secretaries for east and west Uttar Pradesh, respectively. The two general secretaries will interact with party workers at state Congress office in Lucknow on Feb 12, 13 and 14, Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal told reporters.
The decision was taken at a meeting between the Congress chief, the two general secretaries of Uttar Pradesh and Venugopal this morning. "The Congress president along with the two general secretaries will be part of a procession from the airport to the Pradesh Congress Committee office," Venugopal said.
