A man hurled a shoe at BJP national spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao during a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday. The man, identified as Shakti Bhargava, was later held by security personnel present during the presser. Bhargava is said to be a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur and is a doctor by profession. Reacting to the incident, the BJP put the blame on the Congress party and said that they attack was carried out on the instructions of the Grand Old Party. The Congress, however, rebutted the allegations saying that people of the country are angy due to the misrule of the BJP and the attacker could be one of the vicitms of the saffron party's "anti-people" policies.
A visiting card recovered from Bhargava showed that he runs a hospital in Kanpur. He was taken to the IP state police station, where he reportedly claimed to be a whistle blower and that he was unhappy with the Narendra Modi govenrment. The Facebook posts of Bhargava (unverified account) also matched with his claim where he had written several posts against the government.
