Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti of instigating people

New Delhi:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti of instigating people to defy a ban on vehicular movement on the national highway connecting Jammu with Srinagar. Mehbooba Mufti must be arrested for trying to create law and order problem, the BJP demanded. "FIR should be registered against former CM Mehbooba Mufti for statements to instigate the public to defy the vehicular ban on highway on Wednesdays and Sundays,” the chief spokesperson of J&K Bharatiya Janata Party, Sunil Sethi, told reporters.

“We demand the arrest of Mehbooba Mufti for instigating public to break law,” he added.

The BJP leader said Mufti wants to create “chaos for pity political gains”.

He said “perhaps” that is what Mufti desires as she may get more votes by instigating public.

Sethi noted that politics in the state has gone to the “lowest ebb” when a former chief minister has no regard for law.

He said restrictions on vehicular traffic of civilians on these two days in a week is well a thought-out strategy to stop recurrence of Pulwama-like incidents.

Earlier, Mufti had blocked cricketer-turned-BJP politician Gautam Gambhir on Twitter. This came after the two indulged in an argument on Articles 370 and 35A. Mehbooba had criticised the BJP over PIL filed in Delhi High Court seeking to ban Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and herself from contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“Why waste time in court. Wait for the BJP to scrap Article 370. It will automatically debar us from fighting elections since Indian constitution won’t be applicable to J&K anymore. Na samjho gay tou mit jaouge aye Hindustan walo. Tumhari dastaan tak bhi na hogi dastaano main (If you do not understand, o people of India, you will be erased. You would not have your tales written in history),” Mehbooba Mufti wrote on Twitter on Monday.

To this, Gautam Gambhir replied “Yeh Bharat hai. Koi aap jaisa dhabba nahi jo mit jayega (This is India. It’s not a blot like you are which can be erased).”

"Cricketers should stick to playing cricket. Why wade into politics especially when it comes to issues like Kashmir? They have no knowledge about it. Take your aggression to the field, and once you're done, hang your boots with grace. Disgraceful," Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
