Rajasthan Opinion Poll: BJP to return in Lok Sabha polls after Assembly debacle, may get 40% votes

Our team travelled across all the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies across the state and asked people several questions to find out who will have the better chance to steal the show. In the run-up to the Indian General Elections, the burning question which is doing rounds all over is - who will be the top choice for prime minister in Rajasthan? Will the Congress be able to perform well in the Lok Sabha polls also like the state Assembly polls in 2018? Will the BJP make a strong comeback in the state? Other relevant factors which will impact the General Elections in Rajasthan include - list of achievements and developmental works of the existing government, the 10 per cent quota for economically backwards in general category and the ongoing ball game between the BJP and the Congress over politically sensitive Rafale fighter jet deal.

As per the News Nation poll survey in Rajasthan, the BJP is projected to win 16 seats whereas the Congress may bag 9. As far as the vote share is concerned, the survey shows that the BJP is likely to get 40 per cent votes followed by the Congress (35%) and others (10%). When it comes to the most favourable prime ministerial candidate in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Rajasthan chose Narendra Modi with 47 per cent votes. However, 31 per cent people in the state said they want Rahul Gandhi to run the country. Talking about the most important issues in the state 16 per cent people voted for Unemployment (16%), followed by Inflation (15%), Corruption (12%), PM Candidate (12%), Demonetisation-GST (8%), Basic infrastructure (7%), SC-ST Act (6%) Terrorism and others.

In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, the result of Rajasthan was remarkable for the BJP as the party had won all the 25 seats. The voting process was held in two phases on April 17 and April 24, 2014. Talking about the recently concluded Assembly Elections 2018, the Congress emerged victorious signalling new-found energy in the party ranks to stop the BJP juggernaut ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections 2019. While the Congress bagged 99 seats in Rajasthan, the BJP won only 73 seats.

Issues that will dominate Lok Sabha elections 2019:


Being asked about the biggest ongoing issues in Rajasthan, 16 per cent people voted for Unemployment (16%), followed by Inflation (15%), Corruption (12%), PM Candidate (12%), Demonetisation-GST (8%), Basic infrastructure (7%), SC-ST Act (6%) Terrorism and others.



Which party or coalition can address the issues of Rajasthan?


While 43 per cent people think that the BJP is the most capable party to address their issues, 39 per cent of the voters chose the Congress. 

Satisfaction over Congress government's performance in Rajasthan:


While 52 per cent of voters in Rajasthan are happy with the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state, other 42 per cent said otherwise.



Top choice for Prime Minister in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections:


When asked about their favourite Prime Minister in 2019, 47 per cent people in Rajasthan chose Narendra Modi while 31 per cent people want Congress president Rahul Gandhi to run the country. 23 per cent people wanted someone else as the Prime Minister of India.



Will BJP benefit from 10 per cent general caste quota decision?


51 per cent people in Rajasthan believe that the BJP will benefit from the 10 per cent reservation law for the general castes.



Rafale effect on Lok Sabha Elections 2019:


Being asked about Rahul Gandhi's continuous attack over Rafale fighter jet deal, 42 per cent people in Rajasthan say there is substance in the Congress chief's allegations against the Narendra Modi government.

Is Modi government giving befitting reply to China, Pakistan?


While 48 per cent voters in Rajasthan responded Yes, 40 per cent people in the state said a No.



Prime agenda of the Modi government?


45 per cent people in Rajasthan say development has been the prime agenda of the Narendra Modi government, while 41 per cent say politics has been the main focus.

Satisfaction over NDA government's performance at Centre:


49 per cent people in Rajasthan are satisfied with the achievements and developmental works of the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre. However, 37 per cent of people are not happy with the BJP's performance.




Seat Share in Rajasthan:


As far as the seat share is concerned, the survey shows that the BJP is likely to get 16 seats in Rajasthan followed by the Congress (9) and Others (0).



News Nation Opinion Poll in Rajasthan:


The BJP is predicted to win 40 per cent vote share in Rajasthan while the Congress may win 35 per cent vote share in General Elections 2019.


In 2008 Assembly elections, the Congress made a comeback with 96 Assembly seats and the BJP got only 78 seats. 

The Congress was completely routed in Rajasthan in 2014 Lok Sabha polls. The party received only 30.73 per cent of votes.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP got a massive victory in Rajasthan due to Modi wave. The party had received 55.61 per cent of vote share.

The vote share of the BJP was 45.17 per cent in the 2013 Assembly elections. The Congress had garnered only 33.07 per cent of votes.

In 2018 Assembly elections, the vote share of the BJP was 38.8 per cent. The Congress got the vote share of 39.3 per cent.

In 2013 Assembly elections, the BJP stormed back to power with 163 seats. The Congress was able to win only 21 seats.

In 2018 Assembly elections, the BJP was reduced to only 73 seats. The Congress got 99 Assembly seats.

Congress candidate Karan Singh Yadav had won the bypoll in Alwar. He defeated BJP candidate Jaswant Yadav.

The BJP lost the Ajmer and Alwar bypolls in 2018. Congress candidate Raghu Sharma defeated BJP's Ramswaroop Lamba in Ajmer bypoll.

The BJP had won all 25 Lok Sabha seats in 2014. The Congress was not able to open its account.
