New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will blow the National Democratic Party (NDA)’s polls bugle in Bihar for the Lok Sabha Elections on Tuesday with two rallies in Jamui and Gaya Lok Sabha seats. Neither of the two Lok Sabha segments is being contested by the BJP. Both Jamui and Gaya seats are going to polling in the first phase on April 11 along with Nawada and Aurangabad (Bihar). According to a release issued by the BJP's state headquarters, the prime minister will be addressing a rally in the afternoon at Jamui where he will be joined by the part’ys national general secretary in-charge for the state Bhupendra Yadav and state president Nityanand Rai.

PM Modi will land at Gaya international airport around 2 pm on Tuesday. From the airport, he will fly for Jamui by helicopter and return to Gaya around 4.45 pm. He will address a rally near Narayana bridge under Khaira block of Jamui in favour of the NDA candidate Chirag Paswan, the son of Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan.

This would be followed by another rally at Gaya’s Gandhi Maidan in the evening where Modi will share the stage with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, among others.

Neither of the two Lok Sabha segments is being contested by the BJP. In Jamui, LJP leader Chirag Paswan is seeking re-election and is pitted against the Opposition’s grand alliance candidate, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party's Bhudeo Choudhary. In Gaya, the PM will rally for Janata Dal (United) candidate and stone-cutter-turned former MP Bhagwati Devi’s son Vijay Kumar Manjhi, who is pitted against former Bihar CM and grand alliance candidate Jitan Ram Manjhi, president of Hindustani Awam Morcha.

With a total of 40 Lok Sabha seats, Bihar is considered politically important for the NDA to return to power.

State police and central government’s security forces in Jamui and Gaya are maintaining extra vigilance for PM’s visit as both the districts are famous for frequent unlawful activities of Maoists. In Gaya, security agencies have virtually sealed the town to ensure that no anti-social element reaches up to the PM’s rally venue. His scheduled programme might be shifted for 10 to 20 minutes due to security reasons especially in the wake of the Maoists’ call for bandh in entire Magadh region on the same day, a senior police officer said, as reported by TOI.
