Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer Gully Boy is already making headlines, even before its release! The Zoya Akhtar film will have its world premiere at the 2019 Berlin Film Festival. Given Ranveer’s recent marriage to actor Deepika Padukone, this surely comes as a perfect wedding gift.
The film starring Ranveer and Alia will be screened at the Berlinale Special Gala segment of the film festival, the festival organisers said in a statement.
Ever since the first look of the film was released, fans could not hold back their excitement and are eagerly anticipating for the release. Considering their cute chemistry in an advertisement for a travel portal, a lot of expectations are riding on their shoulders.
In the first look, which was shared by the actors in February this year, Alia and Ranveer looked quite different in the de-glam look. The Highway actress was seen wearing a hijaab on her head while the Baajrao Mastani star was dressed in a hoodie.
Gully Boy is based on the life of the rappers from the slums in Mumbai as per media reports. Ranveer who is playing the role of a street rapper in the much-awaited film has been working hard to get the correct look.
The handsome actor had earlier this year shared a picture where he was seen in a leaner avatar.
Ranveer Singh has previously been part of Zoya Akhtar's directorial venture Dil Dhadakne Do which also featured Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and Anil Kapoor in lead roles. Alia Bhatt who done character oriented roles in Highway, Love You Zindagi is working with the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaraa for the first time.
The movie also features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash and Vijay Verma, and is set to release in February next year.
The 69th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival will run from February 7 to 17 next year. Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig's The Kindness of Strangers will kick off the film extravaganza.
