New Delhi:

Adding up to the #MeToo debate in Bollywood, Vinta Nanda shared a shattering account of rape and violation faced nearly 20 years ago at the hands of Alok Nath. The alleged rapist was a 'sanskaari' actor, she wrote.

Vinta Nanda's horrid experience has been described as 'terrifying' and 'heart-wrenching' on Twitter, with users calling for Alok Nath to be prosecuted. Read the full Facebook post:

She concluded her account of brutalisation, rape and harassment with these words: "Irony is that the man, the predator in question here is the actor par excellence who is known as the most #Sanskaari (Cultured) person in the film and television industry."

Alok Nath has come out about the allegations made against him by Vinta Nanda where he denies the reports throughout.

Speaking to Zoom TV, the actor said, “That’s her perspective that you’ve gone through and it’s really horrific and it’s like something terrible and that’s her prerogative, her own personal perspective. So I give her a chance, you know, let her, whatever she felt or whatever happened, to be made public.

On being questioned about how Vinta said that she was intoxicated after which everything happened, Alok says, “Firstly, let’s not blame the alcohol. Secondly, it’s her perspective.” On being asked what his perspective here is, he added, “No, I don’t want to clear my perspective here. In any horrific incident, a single person isn’t involved. Either it’s a ghost or another human being. So she’s had a related incident, which is fine.” He further went on to say, “From my point of view, it is something which is a fragment of a certain imagination, from a person for whom I did a lot of things in life. I don’t want to discuss it right now.” As per the report.

With the global #MeToo movement finally taking off in India, several actors and directors across industries are being demolished. It is the escalating voices against sexual harassment across the world as part of the #MeToo wave that gave Nanda the courage to pen down the experiences which had left her "shattered".

With Alok Nath rubbishing the claims of the director, more exchange of words is supposed to take place in the coming days.

What are your thoughts on his reaction?
