Amitabh Bachchan via ihis Twitter showered praise to the NDRF, Railway, IAF, Navy for fulfilling the successful recuse operation of passengers on board Mahalaxmi Express after the train was stranded due to flooding on tracks following heavy rains in Maharashtra.

All 1,050 passengers on board the Kolhapur-bound train were rescued on Saturday in a multi-agency operation nearly 17 hours after it was stranded near Vangani in Thane district.ย 

Teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Indian Navy teams of divers with specialised equipment, two helicopters of the IAF, including a Seaking and MI17, four columns of Indian Army were pressed for rescue operations.

Additionally, a fleet of ambulances with three dozen doctors including gynecologists, paramedics are deployed at Badlapur to tackle any emergency, 14 buses and three tempos were kept ready to move the passengers to onward safer locations.

ย "Congratulations to the NDRF team .. they have successfully rescued 700 passengers from the Mahalaxmi Express! Well done NDRF, Navy, IAF, Railways and State Admin. This is a brave and successful operation! Filled with pride. Jai Hind!" Bachchan tweeted.ย 

The train had left Mumbai for Kolhapur on Friday night, but could not travel beyond Vangani, where it reached in the wee hours of Saturday.ย 

The actor on Friday announced that he has finished filming for Shoojit Sircar's "Gulabo Sitabo" and will now start working on the eleventh season of "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC).ย ย
