Directed by the debutant Gauravv K. Chawla, Baazaar has already become a popular affair amongst all of us for its select star-cast and intimidating narrative. The film also marks the debut for the newcomer Rohan Mehra son of Late Vinod Mehra.
A renowned name in the film industry, Vinod Mehra started out as a child actor in the late 1950s before starting his film career as an adult in 1971. He acted in over 100 films. Some of his prominent films were Nagin, Jaani Dushman, Ghar and Swarg Narak.
Rohan, who’ll be seen rubbing shoulders alongside Saif Ali Khan says Baazaar is an unconventional choice but he feels lucky to be a part of the film and is happy that he got a chance to work with Saif in one frame.
Rohan is a star kid but nepotism has played no role in getting him this project. In an interview with Pinkvilla, he said, "My father passed away when my mother was pregnant with me. I was born here [India] but shifted to Kenya [Mombasa]. I was far away from Bollywood. My town had one single-screen. I didn't grow up thinking I'd do this. I grew up wanting to be an investment banker. India always spoke to me, so I wanted to settle here. Even Nikkhil didn't know of my lineage when he signed me on."
Interacting with the media at a special screening of Baazaar here on Thursday, Rohan said: "I had a great experience working with my co-stars. Both of them are really good actors and apart from that, I feel they are lovely human beings because they never made me realised that I am a newcomer. They treated me like their professional colleagues."
Baazaar is a crime drama directed by Gauravv K. Chawla, and written by Nikkhil Advani, Aseem Arora and Parveez Sheikh. Released on Friday, the film is set in the backdrop of money, power and business, largely based on the stock market.
