Salman Khan can now heave a sigh of relief as Jodhpur Court has acquitted the actor from the charge of submitting a fake affidavit in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The report states that Salman had informed the court that he had lost the license documents while it was sent for renewal.Â
News agency ANI has confirmed the news via a tweet in which they said, "Jodhpur Court acquits Salman Khan in the case against him for submitting a fake affidavit in the black buck poaching case that he lost the license documents of his weapons, though the license was sent for renewal. Salman's counsel argued his intention wasn't to submit false affidavit".

Earlier in an interview with the Tribune, Salman Khan’s lawyer, Hastimal Saraswat said that he didn’t give out the wrong information intentionally. ''Hence it is not expedient in the interest of justice to proceed against Salman as it is a bonafide mistake of his client. The licence was submitted to the Police Commissioner in Mumbai, and Deputy Commissioner of Police has made the statement in the court also.''
Earlier last month, the Rajasthan High Court had sent fresh notices to Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Dushyant Singh on a plea filed by the government against their acquittal in the black buck poaching case. This came months after the actors were acquitted in the said case.Â
Salman Khan was sentenced to 5-years imprisonment in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case for killing the endangered species Blackbuck in Kankani near Jodhpur in the year 1998 when he was shooting for the film Hum Saath Saath Hai with co-stars Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam. Salman was later granted bail after spending two nights in the Jodhpur Central jail.
