Emraan Hashmi has started shooting for upcoming horror film "Ezra" in Mauritius, the makers announced on Thursday.
The film is a remake of the hit Malayalam movie of the same name, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead. The announcement was made on the official Twitter page of T-Series. The story is based on a couple having paranormal experiences after they buy an antique box from a dealer. They learn that the box belongs to a malicious possessing spirit and take the help of a Jewish priest to know its history.

"Ezra" will be directed by Jay Krishnan, who also helmed the 2017 original. A Panorama Studios Production, the film is backed by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Kishan Kumar and Abhishek Pathak.

It is co-produced by Aditya Chowksey and Sanjeev Joshi.
This is Emraan's fifth supernatural flick. He was earlier seen in ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues’, ‘Raaz 3: The Third Dimension’ and ‘Ek Thi Daayan’, Emraan was last seen in 2016 film ‘Raaz Reboot’.
Speaking to IANS in an interview long back Emraan said, “Horror is a genre with immense potential. A well-made horror film will always draw audiences in huge numbers to cinema halls. With Ezra, we hope to push the boundaries further and give the audience an experience that they will never forget. I’m happy to be associating with Kumarji and Abhishek on this film and with Jay at the helm of things all I can say is be prepared for one hell of a spooky ride.”
The shoot of the film will take place in Mumbai and Mauritius. The female lead is yet to be decided on.
