Farhan Akhtar has been legally separated from estranged wife Adhuna Bhabani now as the Bandra court has finally granted divorce to the couple on Monday. The celebrity couple have got separated after 16-year wedding. According to the media reports, Adhuna has got the custody of their two daughters Shakya and Akira, however, the 'Wazir' actor will have full access to the kids.
The news of their divorce was confirmed by Farhan's laywer Fazaa Shroff-Garg. "The divorce by mutual consent was allowed… by the family court in Bandra," Fazaa told a web portal.
It's been a year when Farhan and Adhuna announced their separation after which they filed their divorce petition in October 2016. The couple released a joint statement announcing their split and stated, "This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner".
While a lot of speculations were made about the reason behind their divorce, the couple chose to maintain a stoic stance on their separation. Interestingly, there were reports that it was Farhan's extra-marital affair with Shraddha Kapoor that made him part ways with Adhuna. However, neither Farhan nor Adhuna ever spoke about it.
