Indian film producer and director and maternal grandfather to Hrithik Roshan, J Om Prakash breathed his last today, on August 07 at the age of 93.
Trade source Akshaye Rathi shared the tragic news on Twitter. He wrote, “Veteran film maker #JOmPrakash ji has passed away this morning. May God bless his soul & give his family the strength to cope with the loss. Condolences to @RakeshRoshan_N ji @iHrithik & everyone the family.”

Actor Deepak Parashar confirmed the death of his uncle on Twitter. J Om Prakash was 93. He died at his Mumbai residence at 8am. "My dearest uncle “Mr J Om Prakash”passed away about an hour ago So saddened as he joins his friend, my Mamaji “Mr Mohan Kumar “in heaven ! Their contributions to Indian cinema is a gift they left behind for us ! Took this pic few months ago when went to see him ! Om Shanti,” he tweeted.

His funeral will be held at Pawan Hans Vile Parle (West) in Mumbai at 12:30 pm on August 7.
Om Prakash was known for films like Aas Ka Panchhi (1961), Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966), Ayee Milan Ki Bela (1964), Aankhon Aankhon Mein (1972), Aya Sawan Jhoom Ke (1969) and Aap Ki Kasam (1974).
Om Prakash made his directorial debut with hit film Aap Ki Kasam starring Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz. The film was a box office success, and is remembered for the performance by its lead actors and all of its songs composed by R. D. Burman like "Jai, Jai Shiv Shankar", "Karwaten Badalte Rahen", "Pass Nahi Aana", "Zindagi Ke Safar." He also produced critically acclaimed film Aandhi (1975).
He was elected President of the Film Federation of India and served for the year 1995-1996.
Pinky Roshan, wife of Rakesh Roshan is his daughter. Hrithik is known to be very close to his maternal grandfather and has often spoken about his love for him.
