Irrfan Khan has finally started shooting for the sequel of Hindi Medium, titled Angrezi Medium in Udaipur. The actor had returned from London last month after undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine tumour. It was last year, that Irrfan had announced that he was diagnosed with high-grade cancer.
The film officially went on the floors in Udaipur on Friday and the first pictures from the shoot show the actor in a healthier state. While Radhika Apte will reportedly play the role of Irrfan’s wife, Radhika Madan has been confirmed for the role of his daughter in the film. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film will tell a new story about Irrfan’s onscreen daughter who goes to London for higher studies.
The actor on Wednesday confirmed his recovery and expressed his gratitude towards his fans for standing by him during his health crisis. The actor, who was photographed at Mumbai airport recently after a long absence owing to his health scare, announced his return on Twitter in a statement.
"Maybe somewhere in the pursuit of winning, we forget how much it means to be loved. In our vulnerability, we are reminded. As I leave my footprints onto these steps of my life, I want to pause to be grateful for receiving your immense love and support, it soothed me in my process of healing. So, I travel back to you, thanking you from the bottom of my heart," Irrfan wrote.
Meanwhile, Hindi Medium was one of the highest earning films of 2017. The plot of the story revolved around a well-off Chandni Chowk couple in Delhi who aspired to break into the elite society and give their daughter the best education possible. The lead roles were played by Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar.
