Jacqueline Fernandez to Swara Bhasker: Bollywood celebs express grief over Sri Lanka blasts

As many as 160 people were killed while over 400 others, including foreign nationals, sustained serious injuries as six serial blasts rocked three churches and three five-star hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday morning. Many Bollywood celebs took to their social networking page to express their grief and offer condolences. 

Jacqueline Fernandez, who is from Sri Lanka, took to Twitter to express grief at the incident. She wrote, "Extremely sad at the news of bombings in Sri Lanka. It’s unfortunate that one is not able to see that violence is like a chain reaction. This has to stop!"

Parineeti Chopra also expressed her grief over Sri Lanka blasts. She wrote, ''Could never have thought a quiet country like #Srilanka could be attacked like this. What is the world coming to? Thinking of all the families affected. All my love and prayers always.''

Vivek Oberoi wrote on Twitter, ''Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic and terrible attacks in #SriLanka. An act of cowardice on a day of prayer, shame on these terrorists. My sincere prayers with the victims and their families. We are all with you #SriLanka. Please stay safe.''

Huma Qureshi also tweeted. She wrote, "What a sad day !! To attack families and children going to church on #EasterSunday !!! This is terrible ... what is happening to our world??? #SriLanka."

Rang De Basanti fame Siddharth tweeted saying, "What a tragic Easter Sunday. The devil knows no mercy. To attack families and children when they are most vulnerable... This is beyond comprehension. #PrayForSriLanka."

Director Madhur Bhandarkar also took to his Twitter account and wrote, "It's a extremely shameful act of terrorism to attack innocent civilians. My heartfelt condolences to the one who lost their lives and praying for the safety of everyone affected in #SriLanka. Stay Strong!"

Swara Bhasker wrote, ''Heartbreaking & tragic news from #SriLanka Curses upon the monsters who carried out this inhumanity! On a joyous festive day! πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜”πŸ˜” What is the world coming to????? Prayers & strength to the victims & families.. πŸ™πŸΏπŸ™πŸΏπŸ™πŸΏπŸ™πŸΏ #SriLankaTerrorAttack.''

The blasts targeted St Anthony’s Church in Colombo, St Sebastian’s Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa around 8.45 a.m. (local time) when worshipers were attending Easter services. Three explosions were reported from the five-star hotels - the Shangri-La, the Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury. Foreigners and locals who were injured in hotel blasts were admitted to the Colombo General Hospital.
