New Delhi:

Days after South Indian actress Amala Paul filed a sexual harassment case, Malayalam actress Sanusha Santosh was molested in a moving train. The incident took place while Sanusha was traveling in Maveli Express on Wednesday night.

However, the actress chose to raise her voice against the nasty incident and got her hold on the molester till he was arrested.

Sanusha filed a complaint against the 40-year old accused who was then arrested by the Thrissur railway police.

While talking about the incident, Sanusha told India Today that the molester touched her inappropriately while she was asleep in the wee hours.

"I was asleep on the train, when I felt something near my lips. When I opened my eyes, the guy in the opposite berth was rubbing his fingers on my lips. I grabbed his hand, shouted and switched on the lights. I didn't leave his hands and I twisted his fingers. But to my shock, nobody in the compartment cared to inquire what has happened.

"There was a person in the lower berth. I tried to wake him up but he opened his eyes, looked at me but did not respond. After some time, writer Unni R and another guy who heard me shouting came to me. They informed the TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) and other police personnel who were in the train.

"At Thrissur station, he was handed over to the railway police and I gave a formal complaint. The train was almost full and still none but these two men cared to help me. There were many women passengers in the train but nobody helped," Sanusha told India Today.

While Sanusha took stringent steps against the accused, she was disappointed with the fact that no one came for her help. In one of her interviews, Sanusha stated, “I think people’s protest and outrage begin and end on Facebook. But when you’re confronted with a real-life situation, nobody cares or reacts. Probably if I had put up a status on Facebook, there would have been many more people showing support, saying “I’m with Sanusha” and changing their display pictures. However, as a woman I want members of the community to stand up for me at times when such incidents happen, not just later on social media. It is really disheartening and I have lost faith in the society.”

Notably, the accused, who was charged with Section 354 of Indian Penal Code, has been sent to 14 days custody.
