Starring Kangana Ranaut in a prominent role, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, is raking in huge numbers at the box office. The film grossed Rs 42.55 crore in its first weekend collection. The film has opened to great reviews and has impressed the audience, with Kangana getting widespread acclamation for her performance. The film opened at Rs 8.75 crore and went on to collect Rs 15.70 crore on Sunday, taking the total collections to Rs 42.55 crore on day three.Â
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the box office numbers of the film on Twitter. He tweeted, ''#Manikarnika has an excellent weekend... Crosses Rs 40 cr mark after a sluggish start [Day 1]... Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi released alongside Nawazuddin Siqqiqui-starrer Thackeray. It is also facing cut-throat competition from the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike that hit the screens on January 11.
The film showcases the journey of Rani Laxmi Bai from a widow to a warrior. Co-directed by Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and Kangana, the film also features Ankita Lokhande, Danny Denzongpa, Atul Kulkarni, Mishti and Jisshu Sengupta in prominent roles.
