Sanjay Leela Bhansali's controversial movie Padmaavat, which has created much of a furor in India, has been cleared for release in Pakistan.
The Pakistan censor board gave a green signal to the magnum opus and will be screened without any cuts in the country.
The announcement was made by Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) chairman Mobashir Hasan on micro-blogging site Twitter. He wrote,"Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) has declared a feature film containing Indian cast and crew, Padmaavat, without any excision suitable for public exhibition in the cinemas with a U certification."

Apparently, there were speculations that Bhansali's magnum opus might face cuts in Pakistan due to the negative portrayal of Alauddin Khilji, a Muslim ruler of the Delhi Sultanate.
However, Hassan stated, "CBFC isn't biased in arts, creativity and healthy entertainment." According to the officials, the CBFC had also invited Professor Waqar Ali Shah, Chairman, Department of History, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad to check the historical references in the film.
On the other hand, the period drama has been facing violent protests over release in India.
The movie has been the controversy's favorite child since the time it was announced. A fringe group had alleged that the movie distorts the historical facts and incorporates a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmini and Alauddin Khilji.
However, the allegations were vehemently denied by the makers.
Despite all the palpable tension, Padmaavat starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor was released in India on January 25.
