New poster of Akshay Kumar starrer is out now. The comedy-drama is inspired by the life of Coimbatore-based Arunachalam Muruganantham who invented low-cost sanitary napkins and foughtfor women’s menstrual hygiene.
The actor shared the poster on social media and wrote “Super hero hai yeh pagla, aa raha hai 26th January, 2018 ko : #PadMan!’’.
The movie is inspired by the story in Mrs Funnybones’s last book. She is also producing the flick and the movie is her debut movie as a producer.
Director of the film – R Balki compared the movie as interesting as Sholay and said, “His (Muruganantham’s) life itself is equal to ‘Sholay’. It is as entertaining as the biggest masala entertainers… And when you have a life that is so entertaining, why do I need to add entertainment’’.
The poster was also shared on the official page of Padman and wrote ‘’He's simple yet crazy! Presenting the official poster of #PadMan, releasing on 26th January, 2018. @akshaykumar @sonamakapoor @radhika_apte @mrsfunnybones @SonyPicsIndia @kriarj #RBalki’’.
Earlier there were speculations on the clash of release dates between ‘Padman’ and ‘2.0’. Both the films were expected to release on Republic day, Akshay Kumar clears the air about the rumours and said, “There is a lot of false information that is being circulated over both films releasing on the same day’’.
‘’Why would I clash with my own film? It will either be 2.0 or PadMan. While PadMan is a film that I have produced, 2.0 belongs to Shankar Rajinikanth and Lyca productions. They will decide if they want to release the film on Republic Day. If they do I will postpone PadMan and if they don’t, I will go ahead’’, he further added.
