Actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt will be seen together in Ayan Mukherji’s directorial venture. The movie will be the first in which they will be paired opposite each other.
The movie, initially titled Dragon, is now called Brahmastra. Speaking to the media on the red carpet of Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival, Mukherji said, “It’s a modern-day film set in India as it exists today. But the reason it’s called Brahmastra is because the energies, wisdom, powers in the film come from ancient India. That’s all I would say. There are some costumes, may be not the way you’d expect them to be.”
The Dharma Productions’ flick will be Ayan’s third project with Ranbir Kapoor, which comes four years after his successful romantic-comedy, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Talking about his hopes with the film he said, “It’s a very big project of my life. All my hopes are on this film. I am very excited about the cast but I hope the film is even bigger than the cast. They have all come together because of the story and the theme of the film.”
Both Ranbir and Alia are equally excited about the film as well as working together.
In an interview to a leading daily, Ranbir had said, “I am extremely excited! Ayan is trying something beyond his years. I think Alia and me are soldiers in this dream of his. He is so hardworking. He has a vision. The kind of imagination. The dream that he is trying to put up.”

On working with Ranbir, Alia said, “I’m super-excited. I’ve always been open about the fact that I admire Ranbir as an actor, and I’m dying to work with him because I’m going to learn more about acting as a craft (from him). I am just a big fan of Ranbir. I’m also most excited about working with Ayan (Mukerji) because I loved both his films (Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani). He’s a very dear person.”
Apart from this, Ranbir has worked with Ayan in his other two directorial ventures, Wake Up Sid (2009) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013).
Along with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, the venture will also star megastar Amitabh Bachchan. Speaking about the megastar, Ayan said, “It’s a great honour for me to work with him. Ever since the film was conceptualised, I wanted to approach him for it and make it with him. I am very happy that he is part of team Brahmastra.”
The shooting of the film is scheduled to commence in February 2018. Both Ranbir and Alia have already started their training in movement and scene design.
Brahmastra is said to be a trilogy and is slated to release in August 15, 2019.
