Kangana Ranaut, who is busy promoting her upcoming movie 'Rangoon', has admitted that she wanted the film to release in 2016.
'Rangoon' was earlier slated to release in October. However, it was later postponed to February.
It was indeed a huge shock for Kangana who was looking forward to the movie's October release to get a break from all the controversy's that were surrounding her at that point of time.
The 'Queen' actress created a buzz with her legal tussle with Hrithik Roshan last year over their alleged affair and mudslinging.
While a lot was said and written about the controversy, Ranaut was expecting that 'Rangoon' release would take away the attention from the controversy.
"Rangoon was going to release in October and it was a last minute decision, at least when it reached me, sometime in July/August I was told that it isn't an October release and now it will come out in February. That time naturally I felt shaken because that also meant delving into the same thing and going round and round about the same topic. Until something else comes about, people don't forget about the past. I would have preferred the film's release in 2016 to distract everyone. But now it is ready for release and I think that is good," Kangana Ranaut told a leading daily.
Interestingly, this is the first time Kangana is working with Shahid, Saif and Vishal.
"They are incredible actors. They are amazing with Vishal Bhardwaj sir (director) and he has given them wonderful characters in the films that he did with them. They are both very special, very natural and spontaneous," Kangana had earlier told in her interview.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, 'Rangoon' is scheduled for release on February 24.
