Rani Mukherjee-starrer 'Hichki' which is one of the much-awaited movies of the year, has now been postponed to March 23, 2018. Earlier slated to release on February 23, the Siddharth P Malhotra directorial is Rani's comeback film after a maternity break of 4 years.

The principal reason behind postponing the release of the movie is the post-exam scenario for students and families.

Talking about this latest development, producer Maneesh Sharma said, "'Hichki' is an out and out family movie that will entertain audiences across all age groups. The YRF team decided that 23 March 2018 is the best release date for 'Hichki' especially given the post-exam scenario for students and families - the most relevant TG for this film."

The story of the film revolves around Naina Matur's journey towards overcoming her weakness, who is suffering from a rare neurological disease, Tourette syndrome. Rani will be seen portraying the character of that Naina who accepts the challenge of teaching a set of ill-mannered students who leave no chance to make her life difficult.

While an over-confident Naina does not allow anyone to take away her confidence, as a teacher she is ready to do all the justice to her duty and leaves no stone unturned to help her students find the correct path in life.

"'Hichki' is an incredible movie which is full of heart and it has a strong message at its core. The movie will entertain audiences, ask the right questions and challenges the right themes which are prevalent in our society," Rohan Malhotra, VP of YRF said.

"We believe 'Hichki' has the potential to stay in the theatres for an extended period of time and keeping that in mind, March 23 is the best release date for the movie," Rohan added.

"I would stammer and I overcame that. My mom would stammer, then my brother Raja seeing her he would and then me. My mom is a classical singer when she would sing she wouldn’t stammer but while talking she would. As my stammering was not inborn it was easy to overcome," earlier Rani said during a trailer launch programme in Mumbai.
