Ranveer Singh, who is currently awaiting the release of his period drama ‘Padmavati’ featuring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles, will now be seen portraying the role of an iconic Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s next.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took his Twitter handle to break this news and wrote, “#BreakingNews: Ranveer Singh will turn cricketer #KapilDev in Kabir Khan's sports-based film... #1983 #WorldCup’’.
Earlier, there were reports of Arjun Kapoor would portray the role of Kapil Dev in the flick. But, now it is clear that Ranveer Singh has replaced his best friend in the upcoming biopic.
Kapil Dev is one of the most popular name in Indian cricket as he is the first captain under the leadership of whom team India lifted the World Cup for the first time.
Vishnu Vardhan Induri – Producer of the film, confirmed the news and said, “Yes, I am trying to make this film since the last three-and-a-half years and I have now got a combination of Ranveer Singh and Kabir Khan. Ranveer Singh is playing Kapil Dev’s role and it’s a bigger movie now’’.
Vishnu is a Telugu film producer and is the founder of Celebrity Cricket League.
The film is written by National Award-winning director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
Currently, Ranveer Singh is awaiting the release of much-anticipated movie of the year ‘Padmavati’ featuring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. The film is slated to release on December 1.
