New Delhi:

Who can forget the ever-conniving and detestable Shakuni Mama of BR Chopra’s magnum opus Mahabharat that aired on Doordarshan from late 1980’s to early 1990.

Aptly played by Gufi Paintal, the character stood out for his trademark awkward gait.

Talking to News Nation, Gufi shared the reason behind the limping bearing of Shakuni Mama.

“During childhood, my dadaji told me that evil characters are physically deformed in some way or the other. When we were finalizing the characters for Mahabharat I shared the same thing with Chopra Saab and gave him a demo by walking with a limp. Chopra Saab and everyone else liked it so much that they almost ordered me to adopt the mannerism,” said Gufi.

And the character turned out to be one of the most memorable ones in the history of Indian Television.
