Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who is currently undergoing treatment in New York, has some good news coming his way. The Pakistan government will be converting Rishi’s ancestral home in the Quissa Khwani Bazar in Peshawar into a museum soon, acting upon the request made by the actor. Foreign Minsiter Shah Mahmood Qureshi confirmed that the Pakistan government will renovate the actor’s house into a museum.

“There was a call from Rishi Kapoor. He requested that his family’s home in Peshawar should be made into a museum or some sort of institution. We have accepted his request,” he told a group of visiting Indian journalists.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Shehryar Khan Afridi exclaimed that Rishi had telephoned him to preserve his family house in Peshawar and the minister affirms that the government is taking positive steps to his request.

“He had called me and talked about making his ancestral home into a museum. Now the federal and provincial governments are working on this and will will transform the house into a museum soon,” Afridi said.

Bollywood icon Prithviraj Kapoor’s father Basheswarnath Kapoor had put up the foundation stone of the house, Kapoor Haveli in Qissa Khwani Bazar.

Raj Kapoor, the son of Prithviraj Kapoor, was born in the Kapoor Haveli on December 14, 1924. The actor-director became very popular for their exemplerary work and movies made in the 1950s and 1960s.

The Kapoor family left Peshawar after the Partition in 1947.

Earlier in October, there were reports that Rishi was suffering from a serious illness following his absence from the funeral of his mother, Krishna Raj Kapoor, who passed away on October 1. His brother, Randhir, rubbished the rumours of Rishi battling cancer and said, “He is at the moment fine. As he is in great pain, he will be undergoing test. He did discuss it with us regarding his health,” Randhir had told PTI.
