Amid the controversial fire of #MeToo movement, many prominent names from the Bollywood fraternity were called out, including filmmaker Sajid Khan. Sajid has been accused of sexual harassment by multiple women in the wake of India’s #MeToo movement.
Soon after the allegations made round on the internet, Sajid had to announce his departure as the director of Akshay Kumar-starrer Housefull 4. Also, actors Akshay Kumar and Farhan Akhtar stood by the victims and did not support Sajid.
In the latest development, The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association has suspended filmmaker Sajid Khan for one year over complaints of sexual harassment against him. Sajid Khan, who came under fire over sexually harassing and assaulting women at workplace including Rachel White, Karishma Upadhyay, Simran Suri and Saloni Chopra, has been banned by the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) for one year.
Sajid's membership has been suspended for one year and this will be reviewed again after a year. In reference to Sajid's earlier interview, IFTDA also said that Sajid exposed his real self and admitted to being abusive and disrespectful towards women.
After Sajid Khan's name was called out as the alleged sexual predators, a number of Bollywood celebrities including Subhash Ghai, Vikas Bahl, Alok Nath, and Rajat Kapoor were exposed.
This came after the #MeToo movement gained momentum in India starting with actor Tanushree Dutta accusing Nana Patekar of harassing her.
