Since yesterday, Vivek Oberoi has been receiving flak on social media for sharing a distasteful and crass meme on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's personal life. Oberoi, who reportedly dated Aishwarya in the early 2000s, posted a meme featuring her with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, daughter Aaradhya and Salman Khan. Even the National Commission for Women issued a notice to Vivek Oberoi seeking explanation on the same.
Many of the celebs including Sonam K Ahuja took to Twitter and called the action on Vivek’s part distasteful. Now Salman Khan too, has reacted on the meme shared by Vivek. Salman, who was addressing media for his upcoming film Bharat, was asked for his reaction on the same.
Replying to which he said, ''Main dhyan hi nahi deta. Pehle jaisa tweet hi nahi karta, toh memes kya dekhunga. Main kaam karoon ya comments dekhoon. Main bilkul dhyan nahi deta (I don’t bother about tweets anymore. I don’t tweet anymore the way I used to, so how can I see memes? Should I concentrate on work or should I check memes?)''.
Vivek Oberoi, on the other hand, has finally apologised for the seemingly ‘funny’ remark on Twitter. The ‘Company’ star took to Twitter and issued a clarification over the meme storm. ''Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I cant even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever,'' Oberoi said.
''Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies. tweet deleted,'' he said in second tweet.
