New Delhi:

It’s no hidden secret that Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit were a ‘thing’ in the 90s and everyone knew about their torrid affair. After working together in several films like Khalnayak, Saajan, etc, Sanjay and Madhuri reportedly fell in love with each other. According to the industry insiders, the two were pretty serious about each other.

However, Sanjay was arrested for the illegal possession of arms in 1993, under TADA and was sent to jail. As per rumours, when Sanjay got arrested, Madhuri decided to end their alleged relationship and disassociate herself from him. She did not even go to jail to meet him, not even once, as per reports.

Now, after almost 21 years, we will see the alleged ex-couple once again on the silver screen, all thanks to Karan Johar. Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit will be seen sharing screen space in the highly-anticipated period drama, Kalank

Sanjay Dutt in an interview to a daily opened up on the experience of reuniting with Madhuri after two decades.

He said, "Yes, working with her is a pleasure (smiles). What is the time frame that we hadn't met or seen each other? Two decades, perhaps a little more. Madhuri is such a great actor. I've done many films with her - Thanedaar (1990), Saajan (1991), Khalnayak (1993), Mahaanta (1997)... I can't even recall in one go. So, to work with her again in that one scene that we did together in Kalank was amazing."

"She's got that command as an actor. It's a pleasure to share screen space with her after so many years. So much has gone past, people have matured. She herself comes across as such a matured actor,’’ he added.

The film also stars Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur in prominent roles. Kalank, written and directed by Abhishek Varman, is a joint production venture between Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Fox Star Studios. The film will hit the screens on April 17.
