Sonali Bendre, who is undergoing a cancer treatment in New York for many months now, will finally return to her home, Mumbai. Though for a short span, this will be for a ‘Happy Interval’. The actor took to her Instagram handle to share the news of her coming back to where her heart belongs in a lengthy post.

Sonali shared pictures and a boomerang of her, draped in a white overall and a winter jacket, heading towards India. She wrote, “They say 'Distance makes the heart grow fonder'. It sure does. But let's never underestimate what distance teaches you. Being away from home in the city of New York, I realised I was walking amongst so many stories. Each trying to write their own chapter in different ways. Each struggling to do it but never giving up. Each taking it one day at a time.”
“I'm on my way back to where my heart is. It's a feeling I can't describe in words but I'm going to try - it's the joy to see my family and friends again, the excitement to do what I love and mainly the gratitude for the journey I've had up until this moment,” added the actor.

The Sarfarosh actor also mentioned that her fight with cancer is not over yet, but she is happy and looking forward to this happy interval. She has switched on the sunshine, ready to embrace the new normal, as her adventure with life continues. Sonali quoted Chris Martin while on her way back home, “Everything you want is a dream away. Under this pressure, under this weight, We are diamonds taking shape…”
Sonali was diagnosed with cancer in July 2018 that has metastasized. Since then, she keeps sharing updates about her health and is brave enough to withstand any hurdle that life throws at her. Through her Instagram posts, the 43-year-old Bollywood beauty has been an inspiration for many.
