New Delhi:

What was once an informed social network, home to serious discussions on all kinds of topics, is now a den of negativity where verbal abuse and bullying have been taken to new, virtual levels. All of this has forced Sonam K Ahuja to take a break from Twitter.

Though, Social media is a very important platform from which we can glean the positivity and negativity attributes of a user based on his/her message postings and interactions with other users. Actor, Sonam Kapoor, who is otherwise very active on social media, announced on Saturday that she is taking some time off from Twitter.

The actress did not specify the reason for her decision of a Twitter detox, The 33-year-old actress mentioned that Twitter has become "too negative". Before signing off, Sonam wished peace and love to her followers and wrote: "I'm going off Twitter for a while. It's just too negative. Peace and love to all!"

Sonam did not give details as to why she is taking a break from the microblogging website but her decision came days after a trolling incident on Twitter. Sonam tweeted out expressing her concern on the growing pollution levels in Mumbai on Thursday.

"It's taken me two hours to reach town. And I'm still not at the destination. The roads are bad and the pollution is ridiculous it's a nightmare to get out of the house," Sonam had posted on Twitter.

Reacting to Sonam’s tweet, a man told Sonam through a tweet that she should travel by public transport instead of complaining about it.
“It’s because of people like you, who don’t use public transport or less fuel consumption vehicles. You Know that your luxury car gives 3 or 4 km per litre mileage and 10 /20 AC’s in your house are equally responsible for global warming. First control your pollution,” wrote the user on Twitter.

Responding to this harsh tweet, Sonam launched a scalding attack and responded, “And it’s because of men like you that women find it difficult to use public transport for fear of being harassed.”

The Aisha actress, was further trolled shoddily for assuming the man to be a sexual harasser without any legitimate proof or provocation.
This bitter exchange of words is being considered as the reason for the actor’s decision of taking some time off from Twitter.

Sonam is currently busy working on her upcoming film "The Zoya Factor", opposite Dulquer Salmaan. The film is based on Anuja Chauhan's novel of the same name.

The actress was recently spotted enjoying a double date with hubby Anand Ahuja and tinsel-town’s favourite couple, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas in Italy at the engagement bash of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal.
