Taapsee Pannu’s recent Manmarziyaan attracted a few controversies right after the release. The Sikh Community had raised their concern and targeted the filmmakers for hurting their religious sentiments. Anurag Kashyap directed ‘Manmarziyaan’ features Taapsee, Abhishek Bachchan and Vicky Kaushal in significant roles as members of the Sikh clan. As shown in the movie, one scene depicts Taapsee and Abhishek smoke before going to Gurudwara the next morning. Also, Abhishek is seen removing his turban in an inappropriate manner. This called for a raging criticism and the scenes had to be cut after the makers received several threat calls.

Made in the backdrop of Punjab, Anurag Kashyap had to clarify his motives for filming the scenes. To arbitrate the storming argument, the director also issued a clarification note to the community suggesting that the scenes were not made to hurt any religious sentiments. However, this became another meme topics for the netizens.
Baffled by the memes, Taapsee too expressed her discontentment on social media, which again attracted more trolls. She faced a string of brutal trolls on Twitter. However, the ‘Pink’ actor kept her spirits high and gave even more felicitous replies to shut the raging Twitterati. She went on bashing her idea for a full drug test outside the Gurudwara in all her tweets.
