Kedarnath, the much-awaited film starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles has made its way for the masses today. Set against the backdrop of floods in Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is directed by Abhishek Kapoor who has immense faith in Lord Bholenath. His faith brought him closer to this film, sources close to the director said.
Abhishek Kapoor's journey as a kid to holy sites such as the Vaishnav Devi and the Amritsar temples triggered his desire to travel places, including Kedarnath. The beauty of the place inspired Abhishek Kapoor to pay tribute to Kedarnath through his film.
"I am a staunch devotee of Shivaji. Some stories come through you and some choose you, and I believe this is one of those stories. He has chosen me to tell this story. The two-year journey of making and developing this film and going through all the hardships has been a pilgrimage in itself. The best part of the film is that it has brought me closer to him," Abhishek Kapoor shares.
Kedarnath is an epic love story set in the backdrop of the flash floods that wrecked the temple town in June 2013 and left thousands dead. It is a potent combination of love and religion, passion and spirituality.
Kedarnath, produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP and Abhishek Kapoor’s Guy In the Sky Pictures, also marks the debut of Sara Ali Khan and presents the second association of Abhishek Kapoor with Ronnie Screwvala along Sushant Singh Rajput after Kai Po Che.
The film releases today - December 7, 2018.
