Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha' has been making waves at the box office from the first day itself.

Toilet has emerged as the highest grossing Hindi movie of the year beating the likes of Shahrukh Khan's Raees and Salman Khan's Tubelight.

The movie based on the issue of open defecation in India collected a total of Rs. 126.84 crore.

 The satirical comedy has collected about Rs. 4.75 crore in the third week of its release, as per BoxofficeIndia.com. It earned Rs. 1.15 crore on Friday while on Saturday it registered Rs. 1.5 crore followed by Rs. 2.10 crore on Sunday.

The first week of the film saw a box office collection of Rs. 94.21 crore. The film did well in the second week as well with Rs. 27.98 crore.

The Shree Narayan Singh directorial received immense praise for its unique concept. The movie took inspiration from PM Narendra Modi's ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. 

The film portrayed the separation of a new married couple and how the bride moves out of her in-law's house because of unavailability of a toilet. Akshay played the role of the husband who fights against all odds to build a toilet and bring his wife back.
