New Delhi:

Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike has emerged as the first hit film of 2019 as the movie crossed the Rs 50 crore mark on Tuesday. The film is still soaring high on success.

Now, according to reports, film’s producer Ronnie Screwvala has donated Rs 1 crore to the Women Welfare Association of the Indian Army as a gesture of goodwill. The donation is said to be used as an aid to the families of the martyrs.

In an interaction with Mid-Day, Screwvala said, "We take each day for granted, and yet, these brave women and men in the Army, Navy and Air Force stay committed and are resolute to protect us. They are the true inspiration for modern-day India, and we need to draw examples from the selfless lives that they lead, and the pride with which they carry themselves."

The film helmed by Aditya Dhar crossed the Rs 50 crore-mark on Wednesday within 6 days of its release. The movie was released along Anupam Kher's political drama The Accidental Prime Minister but managed to hit the mark despite tough competition.

Uri: The Surgical Strike has mostly received positive reviews and with the positive word-of-mouth, the movie is expected to churn out good at the box office in the upcoming weekend.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, it’s a revenge film from the word go. From gun battles, hand to hand combat scenes to precisely planned drones. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike features Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles.
