New Delhi:

Good news for Varun Dhawan fans. The actor will get back to his comic mode on the first of May 2020 with the remake of Coolie No 1. The actor informed through a social media post that the movie will release the next year on the same day, e.i. May 01. The actor posted the picture of a porter's badge belonging to western railway.

The movie also features Sara Ali Khan and will be helmed by Varun's father, David Dhawan, who also directed the original film starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.

This will be Varun Dhawan's third collaboration with his father David Dhawan after the success of Main Tera Hero and Judwaa 2.

The actor has earlier clarified that the new film is not a remake but the essence of the original film will be retained.

"When we do something like this the idea is that the essence has to be the same. But at the same time, the film is completely different.

It is not a remake, it is an adaptation. But the title is the same," Varun told PTI.

And this will be the first collaboration of Varun Dhawan, one of the most bankable young star, and Sara Ali Khan, who has won everyone's heart with her first two films Kedarnath and Simmba.

Announcing the release date, Sara Ali Khan shared the poster with the caption, "Aaj Ka Din, Agle Saal - Aaega Coolie No. 1 - Hoga Kamaal‼️

Talking about the film last month, Varun Dhawan had told the film is currently in the scripting stage. "Work is on for 'Coolie No 1'. The shoot will start in August-September."

Farhad Samji has earlier revealed that he's penned the dialogue draft of the film and Varun has reportedly begun to prep for dialogues months ahead of the film.

The writer-director revealed that the film will have “plenty of humour and colour, larger-than-life songs” and will be helmed on a “lavish scale”.
