New Delhi:

With the year-old #MeToo movement finally taking root in India, several noted personalities across industries have been demolished. Bollywood's 'Sanskari Pitaji', Alok Nath, who came under the scanner of #MeToo wave, on Saturday submitted a complaint, seeking to register a defamation case against writer-producer Vinta Nanda who accused the actor of rape.

Ashu Nath, the wife of the Vivah actor, moved an application to a metropolitan court in Andheri, Mumbai, asking the police to investigate the allegations of rape levelled by Nanda. Earlier, a written complaint was submitted to the Amboli police station regarding the same.

Facing a defamation case by actor Alok Nath and his wife, the writer-producer, Vinta Nanda filed a police complaint against him amid several allegations of sexual harassment made against the actor. A senior police official said Nanda submitted her complaint against Nath at Oshiwara police station. "She gave a written application and our inquiry is on," he added.

In a social media post last week, Nanda had alleged that the actor had raped her 19 years ago. Nath had refuted the allegations and also filed a civil defamation suit against Nanda.

Nanda also took to Facebook to write an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention in the matter. Vinta wants the PM to provide all complainants with a space to be heard, and give them justice. Take a look at her post:

In a request to file a defamation case against Nanda under sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Ashu Nath said, "It is matter of record that recently, at USA, a campaigning had been started in the name of “#Me Too” and accordingly, some of the artists in the film industry along with others have joined the said campaigning by way of alleging that during the shoots or during the career in the film industry, they have been sexually assaulted".

The #MeToo movement has taken the social media by storm after model-turned-actress Tanushree Dutta, last month, recounted a decade-old controversy with sexual harassment allegations against Nana Patekar.

Other prominent celebrities who have been included in #MeToo accounts are filmmaker Vikas Bahl, Sajid Khan, singer Kailash Kher, actor Rajat Kapoor, cricketer Lasith Malinga and many others.
