On International Women’s Day, meet one of the most prolific producers of Bollywood – Guneet Monga. The film producer is currently basking in the success of her latest production, Period: End Of Sentence that won the Best Documentary Short Subject at the 91st Academy Awards. The film is about women in India fighting against the deeply rooted stigma of menstruation and delving upon the work of real life ‘Pad Man’ Arunachalam Muruganathan. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.

After the Oscar win, Guneet took to her Twitter account and wrote, ''WE WON!!! To every girl on this earth... know that you are a goddess... if heavens are listening... look MA we put @sikhya on the map.''

Apart from Period: End Of Sentence, Guneet Monga is also known for producing notable films like Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1, Masaan, The Lunchbox, Monsoon Shootout and Zubaan. Monga’s first major international film was the 2010 Oscar nominated short film, Kavi, about bonded labour in India.

In May 2013, The Lunchbox and Monsoon Shootout were selected for the International Critics' Week and a midnight screening at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival respectively. Currently, film producer Guneet Monga is making inroads into the Southern Indian Film market with Suriya's next yet-untitled Tamil outing.

Monga took to Twitter to announce her association with Suriya's 2D Entertainment on his next project with director Sudha Kongara. "Our first Tamil film producing with Aalif Surti, Sriram, Achin Jain and Sikhya Entertainment. Very excited for this. Directed by rockstar woman Sudha Kongara (sic)," she wrote.

Guneet is one of the fifty artists from the Entertainment Industry around the world that featured in Variety's International Women's Impact Report 2018. Also, last year, Guneet became one of the first Indian producers to join the Producer branch of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
